End of Conference CONFERENCE OVERVIEW The CAPPS Conference will explore parallel processing as a solution to many of the data processing business problems in commercial enterprises. Newly introduced parallel processing computer systems -- ranging from tightly coupled shared memory systems to loosely coupled distributed memory systems (including collections of workstations on networks) -- are beginning to offer dramatically higher cost/performance characteristics for large-scale computations typical of business computing. Most of the significant uses of parallel processing systems have occurred in the domain of scientific and engineering applications. This conference however will explore the uses of parallel processing systems in business applications that are crucial to the management and operation of commercial industrial and government enterprises. Who Should Attend o Managers contemplating parallel processing as the answer to their data processing problems o Managers who want to learn about successful uses of parallel processing in commercial settings o Commercial industrial and government users of parallel processing systems o Vendors of parallel processing systems and software who want to learn about the parallel processing needs of the business community o Researchers working in the area of parallel processing Conference Format Day 1 Tuesday Oct. 19 emphasizes management organization and integration of parallel processing in commercial environments. Day 2 Wednesday Oct. 20 emphasizes technical issues as related to commercial applications of parallel processing. CAPPS Organizing Committee Dr. Rich Brice MCC Dr. Jim Browne Computer Science Dept.
