Obiettivi formativi

Il principale obbiettivo formativo del nostro dottorato consiste nella preparazione di ricercatori che siano in grado di sfruttare le moderne Biotecnologie per affrontare i problemi della biologia moderna in strutture di ricerca private e pubbliche. Il dottorato ha un forte carattere interdisciplinare per cui tutti gli studenti sono esposti a progetti che traggono vantaggio dall’interazioni con discipline quali la Chimica le Fisica e soprattutto la Bioinformatica. Possono accedere al dottorato studenti in possesso di una qualsiasi laurea scientifica che al momento del colloquio di ammissione mostrino una sufficiente preparazione nelle discipline biologiche (Attualmente sono iscritti al dottorato studenti in possesso di una laurea in Biologia, Fisisca e Chimica.
L´attivitá di ricerca, che rappresenta il principale momento formativo del dottorando, é diretta allo studio, con moderne metodologie molecolari e cellulari, della biologia delle cellule procariotiche ed eucariotiche a livello strutturale, metabolico, genetico, di sviluppo, differenziamento. Una particolare enfasi è riposta nella formazione ad un approccio che sfrutti i recenti progressi nell’area della genomica e della proteomica. All´attivitá sperimentale si affianca un´attivitá didattica articolata in progetti formativi comuni a tutti i dottorandi. Questi progetti possono variare di anno in anno. Nel corso degli ultimi tre anni i dottorandi hanno costruito una banca dati di interazioni proteiche (MINT) che è disponibile in rete (http://160.80.34.4/mint) Questo progetto ha avuto un considerevole visibilità internazionale ed è stato riconosciuto dall’European Bioinformatic Institute che ha proposto di sviluppare MINT quale banca dati Europea di interazioni proteiche.

Stages in industrie Biotecnologiche.
Un paio di studenti per anno svolgono la loro attività di ricerca nei laboratori della Merck Srarp & Dome di Pomezia. Inoltre il dottorato ha rapporti con la Lay Line Genomics una start up company nell’area sud di Roma
