The aim of the PhD program in Quantum Electronics and Plasma is to prepare professional figures with technical and scientific skills in a field of extreme interest in scientific and industrial framework.
Research topics are closely connected to the lines of research developed in the laboratories of the department or Research centres linked to the doctorate (ENEA - technical and scientific division for fusion, - technical and scientific division for advanced physics technologies, CNR, Consortium Crati, Lebedev Phisical Institute (Moscow)).
In particular they regard the following lines of research:

- Laser Physics and Technologies;
- Laser applications in medical, biological, environmental, energetic, industrial fields;
- Laser induced Plasmas;
- Plasmas dynamics;
-Thermonuclear magnetic and inertial fusion.

The didactic side consists in three courses of basic instruction:
1. Quantum Eletronics;

2. Quantum theory of radiation;
3. Plasmas Electrodynamics.

Three courses of specific instruction:
1. Laser Technologies and applications;
2.
Plasmas, thermonuclear fusion and other applications;
3. Environmental Remote sensing.

Several advanced lectures on laser technologies and applications, and possibly on energetic uses in thermonuclear fusion, also take place.

The research topics of the doctorate in EQ and plasmas are pertinent to following main areas:
Laser optoelectronics, New technologies for energy, environment and atmospheric study, micro and nano technologies.
