The PhD program in Medical Biotechnology and Molecular
Medicine provides students with the resources to enhance their knowledge
about biochemical and molecular aspects of the eukariotic and procariotic
cells in order to held coltures of transformed and primary cell lines.
At the same time, students will study cellular and molecular biotechnologies
needed to project and realize a research program targeted to the production
of biodrugs or diagnostic tools or the understanding of new physiopathogenetic
mechanisms followed by clinical applications.
New knowledge about the structure, function and analysis of biological
macromolecules and the cellular process in which they are involved will
be developed. In addition, knowledge regarding bioinformatics, scientific
data bank utilization and distribution with electronic tools is learned.
The students will be made aware about the basis of acquired and congenital
diseases candidates for a biotechnological approach as well as about
feeding, environmental and microbiological aspects of the diseases.
The program should allow the student to have good interaction with clinicians
in order to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic tools.
During the program students will also learn about the environment impact
of Biotechnologies to prevent unwarranted effects.
Moreover the Bioethics European and National Norm as well as the protection
of inventions and security of Biotechnologies will be studied.
